This past weekend we went on a day trip down to the beautiful, quaint little town of Duxbury. I had been told how pretty this place was by so many people since moving to Boston and it did not disappoint.
It was a sunny but cold and windy day but a walk on Duxbury beach to check out the view was still so nice, we will definitely be coming back here again in the summer. To get out to the beach you can walk or drive along a the pier out to the beach where there is plenty of parking available, at least of this time of year and judging by the parents pushing strollers out there this is of course a child friendly destination 🙂
After some time spent on the beach and the boys collecting some shells we headed in to the town centre for lunch. Duxbury has a great selection of little restaurants from oyster and fresh fish to lobster rolls and Sunday (British) roasts.
Below are a list of the restaurants we came across:
Wildflower Cafe – breakfast spot
The Foodsmith – breakfast and lunch
The Oysterman – as the name suggests
Harbor Fish co. – great lobster rolls and fresh fish
Milepost Tavern this is where we ate and had a great lunch including a pretty good version of an English ‘Sunday roast’
Next door to the Harbor Fish Co. is a really great pastry and bakery called French Memories serving coffee, sandwiches, pastries and a great selection of cakes (the pain au chocolat was the boys favourite)
Looking for some ice cream after lunch? Make sure to make a stop at Jimmie’s or Farfa’s Danish Ice Cream Shop!
Duxbury is a wonderful day out for the family or for a few nights stay as a mini vacation.
