Alice’s Table

Today I tried out a combined class of 2 things that i like – barre and flowers. I’ve had an interest in learning how to do flower arrangements for a while now so when i saw an advert about classes offered by Alice’s Table I immediately signed up.

This class was downtown in Boston at the Xtend Barre studio as it was a combined one hour barre class followed by a 2 hour flower arranging lesson and it was so much fun! Honestly, if I had ever in the past thought about trying to arrange some flowers in to some kind of pretty arrangement that idea would have quickly been replaced with “why dont i just go out and buy them instead” but where is the fun in that. This class really allows you to express your creative side and put your own personality and flair in to your design under the guidance of a fab teacher *who is also a florist). There were 24 people in the group and 24 awesome arrangements by the end of the class, I was so impressed with my end product which I would never have dreamt that I would have put such a wonderful creation together in the past.

The class included a step by step walk through of how to prep the vase, what flowers we would be using in the arrangement and tips and hints on how to keep the flowers fresher and healthier for longer. After the initial indecisiveness of how to style the flowers I decided to jump right in and see where it took me and the end result was something worthy of centre stage on our dining table. The vase and arrangement are yours to take home and reuse again or give to someone as a great personally made gift.

Alice’s Table offer classes in various locations and incorporating various combinations from barre and flowers to restaurant food tastings and a flower class to follow. Check them out at www.alicestable.com
